Zombie Ranch art Rest in Profit

Today’s Zombie Ranch comic is a sketch day due to us fighting colds and flu for so many weeks (first caught a cold, was better for a day and then caught the flu). As I still sit here sniffling, I will do as I usually do, tell you about the art I drew and why I drew it.

When coming up with the idea, the first image was a woman sitting on a tombstone. Then I came up with more ideas of how she was sitting on a tombstone and the fact that I didn’t want her sad or being some goth hanging out on a grave. So I decided she was smiling with her feet playfully dangling over a rounded tombstone. I chuckled, sneezed into a tissue 50 times, and realized the idea I was sketching out reminded me of advertisements for “reality TV” shows like those House Flipping shows (FYI, there is a show called “Zombie House Flipping” and it’s sadly not what I hoped).

My brain went through all the different Reality shows I’ve seen or have seen advertised and I remembered Storage Wars, a show about repossessed storage units being sold to the highest bidder. The person that buys the storage unit is looking for one piece of treasure among all the junk in order make their purchase profitable.

Zombie Ranch is about a world where we have survived the hordes of zombies and found a way to profit off of them. One might think, “but raising zombies is like being a farmer or a cowboy with their cattle. I can go to the store and buy a steak for a decent amount. How could they make a profit off of something that you can buy for cheap in a store?”. And I have two words for you “Kobe Beef”. Celebrities of today would be worth a lot to those that have money in the Zombie Ranch world.

Zombies are being turned into youth face creams and medicine, I feel people would pay a lot of money from a zombie celebrity face cream of a celebrity that was known for being handsome/beautiful while alive. Or even a fan of that actor would probably want it in his William Shatner collection.  Hell, I’ve heard of people buying kidney stones that came from a celebrity, so for me this isn’t too hard to imagine happening.

The idea for what I was going to draw had been decided and I was excited to draw it out. And so a TV show was born in the Zombie Ranch World and it was called “Rest in Profit” (aka RIP).
