Making a Dwarf Crown
But this year it’s the first weekend of August and I’m so happy that I can go! If anyone reading this is going, I’ll only be there on Saturday.
I love to draw and pain, but I also love to engineer costumes. I’ve been having some health issues, but the doctors feel I’ll be okay as long as I take it easy and wear something loose and comfortable. The ancient romans had a pretty damn nice looking loose fitting outfit, so I decided to take inspiration from that. My friend at A Red Thread is helping me put together a Stola and then help me drape a Palla over it.
But I’m going to the Goblin King‘s ball, I can’t go as an ancient Roman! So I’m turning the outfit into a Royal Dwarf Queen outfit. Sadly I won’t have the time to glue a fake jewel beard on me, but I hope the crown and my jewelry will have a Dwarf feel with a hint of ancient Roman influence. We shall see.
The image above is the template for the crown. Which I plan to light up.
First draft concept sketch of crown
Sizing for the center jewels and how they might look when I light them up with LEDs
^Decided it would look better flipping crown upside down from the original concept.
Now I’m just waiting for the Worbla to come in the mail today and then I can get to work on putting this bad boy together!
If the outfit fails to give the feeling that I’m a Dwarf from a fantasy story, than I hope it will at least look awesome. 🙂
